Featured Coffee: Coffee Collective Kenya Kieni

Kieni is a washed process coffee from Kenya. This coffee was roasted by Coffee Collective, out of Copenhagen, Denmark. Their tasting notes are blackberry, blueberry, and vanilla. We chose to brew this coffee on the Aeropress + Disk, with a 1:15 ratio of coffee to water.

Our recipe:

18g coffee — medium-fine grind
270g water — just off boil

Regular (non-inverted) method
Brew time of 2:00

Tasting notes:

Tons of blackberry in the dry aroma, which is also one of the most prominent flavor notes when brewed. This coffee has a juicy mouthfeel and a honey-like sweetness. Along with the warm blackberry notes, we taste citrus and vanilla, and the acidity reminds us of a cranberry or pomegranate. The finish is sweet and lingering.
