Featured Coffee: Never Coffee Flowers Blend

Flowers is a blend of Rwanda Gatare and Ethiopia Bokasso, and roasted by Never Coffee out of Portland, Oregon, USA. Their tasting notes include chamomile, elderberry petals, lemon-lime, and milk chocolate. We chose to brew this coffee on the Kone, with a 1:15 ratio of coffee to water.

Our recipe:

45g coffee — medium grind
675g water — just off boil

30 second bloom (90g)
Finished pouring at 3:10
Finished draining at 4:00

Tasting notes:

Cherry pie! Notes of bread, oats, and dried cherries on the dry aroma, and on the first sips. These quickly open up to a more fruit-forward coffee, with the aforementioned fresh cherry flavor, as well as notes of grape, blackberry, lime, and vanilla cookie. A medium-light mouthfeel and crisp, sweet finish round off this coffee.

Our take:

A nicely balanced blend for the appreciator of fruity, washed coffees. Though primarily fruity, the coffee is balanced by some bread-like characteristics.
